i did not usually ask simple algorithmic questions like this.

if i was (am retired) i would typically ask questions about the languages we were using. in my case this would typically be c++ and sql. so i would normally ask things like:

"tell me something about the copy constructor"

or:

"when would you want to do a union?"

amazing how many people were dumbfounded by these. and notice, no leetcode crap needed.
