How do you know weed makes you not dream rather than not remembering you did?

Anecdata for myself.

Weed makes me much more still during the night, and suppresses my sleep talking entirely. So either it makes me not dream or it has other effects going on making me a more still sleeper.

I'm using both terms as equivalent to "I don't recall dreaming".

The reality, I hesitate to speculate.
