TBH, here are washing machines with WiFi. With proprietary, mobile-only, cloud-only applications. Maybe, it is possible to hack these protocols. Maybe. Maybe, cloud will be up and running in 10 years (typical age of washing machine in my life, after which it requires replacement due to failure of one of the main aggregates). Maybe. And, maybe, you country will not block this cloud and cloud will not block you country. Maybe.
