I prefer this reasoning for why people get emotional about programming languages: When someone says, "Your programming languages sucks", they're also saying, "The way you go about approaching problems sucks", and essentially, "The way you think is wrong". I think its reasonable for people to get emotional about a claim like that.

Why? It may be common to get emotional, but wouldn't it be much better to get rational about a claim like that?
