You don't need a vision, you just need to pay me to get access to my actual article about it!

There's a reason why some of the most popular books are purely about vision. Think and grow rich, the secret, awaken the giant within, 7 habits of highly effective people, the four agreements, the alchemist, great gatsby, LOTR, etc.

This take on not needing a vision is only useful once you already have established a vision for your own life. It is terrible advice if taken by itself.

A philosophy doesn’t hurt though. At long as you update it when exposed to new information.

But his version:

> Stick to your practice, and things will appear.

Is a better way to say “fake it til you make it” while also invoking discipline.

His point is:

Don't wait for a vision as a reason to practice. Practice does not require vision. With practice comes vision.

A highly pragmatic philosophy for artists.

You might not need a vision. But you need a reason and if practice and self discipline are your intrinsic reasons then thats great. Personally Im more motivated by imagining the world or tiny change I want or need to see. Better body, better routine, better city, better developer experience. Whatever.

This stuff isnt one size fits all. Thats what we should always keep in mind. Vision works for lots of people. Practice works for some. Figure out what works best for you.

Not the Apple AR headset

Yeah, the title should be edited to remove the capitalization of 'Vision'. It has the potential to mislead and it's incorrect anyway.

It might be correct for title case, but I thought I'd save someone else a page load anyway

The original isn't in titlecase, and HN doesn't seem to have a policy that headlines should be. There are several headlines in sentence case on the front page right now.

I guess that's it now, after the fruit, Apple now owns generic words in our thoughts.

I wasn’t expecting this to be about based on the title alone
