The chart definitely matches my experience. Looking at my own blog, the category with the most posts is “static site generators”.

I recall seeing a few blogs shared on HN with tons of interesting posts that were entirely created using Notepad as well.

I guess posts about blogging tools are the equivalent of “slow news days”.

Another title could be Fiddling with tools vs actually blogging ...
