Tit-for-tat going on for years. US seizes tankers carrying Iranian oil. Iran seizes oil tankers in strait of Hormuz as a reaction. Rinse and repeat

They allege that these ships are being pursued for infractions in Iranian waters, like colliding with Iranian ships, but I'm sure that's a pretext.
