I saved our TI-5100 from a major spill by taking it apart and dousing the board in 99% alcohol and drying it all completely. When I reassembled it I swapped the 1,2,3 and 7,8,9 keys so "they matched the telephone" as I later explained with a smile.

Form doesn't always follow function. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it does, but surprises with additional aesthetic.
