Speculation on the Widely-Assumed Switch to USB-C Ports on the Upcoming iPhones (daringfireball.net)

I don't understand how iPhone users put up with such file-hostile behavior. When I want to get a large video file from my phone to my computer I open my phone's file manager, hit copy file, select one of my PC's network shared folders, and it copies over at a good clip, around 70 MB/s.

When I want to get any video or photos I've captured on my phone, they're usually in my library (via iCloud) before I get back to my computer.

You're aware that iOS has a native file manager app, which allows for mounting network shares and copying files between local storage and those mounts, right?

How is that any different than iOS?

gruber is underestimating how much iphone nerds have been talking about this change with their friends and family.

there will also be the rebound effect - when the android nerds give the regular iphone users shit for it taking so long for the iphone to get usbc.

that harassment is likely to send the regular iphone users right back into the arms of the iphone nerds.

most people are going to find the color-matched cable fabulous, grumble a bit that they need to pick out some new anker colors, and otherwise not spend much time on this.

Do we have the EU to thank for this genuinely good change.
