Talent and Hard Work? Think Again (twitter.com/shanesnote)

I loathe posts like this one.

I see them a lot on LinkedIn.

Where each sentence is its own paragraph.

Or maybe two sentences, where the first is normal but the second? It's succinct.

It's the textual equivalent of an Instagram filter, delivering generic ideas in a dramatic way.

Make it stop.

Totally fair, this was my first post I have been refining for over the course of a few months. Each one I will iterate on and have a continuous development cycle. I seems like it was providing value to a couple of people before getting flagged within 30 ish minutes. Really bummed about that.

“Talent and hard work get you extra rolls of the dice” is how I’ve perceived it.

What gives you the most rolls? Money.

Chicken before the egg kinda thing eh? Thanks for reading. I really appreciate it.

I think this is strongly undervaluing the influence of networks. Compare with: https://barabasi.com/book/the-formula

Adding to my list. Super strong point. I totally agree. Especially since networks can grow exponentially in size and power with the web.

Whenever I see stuff like this I think of a less douchebagy version of this guy

Thanks for the share, that was great. I think the post ironically took the side of the girl at the end lol.
