'Russification' was the Soviet era policy of creating unity throughout the constitutional states of the USSR by diluting nationalist sentiment through the imposition of a common language, along with the migration of ethnic Russians to countries where they were not already a majority. Paradoxically and ostensibly an anti-nationalist move, it can of course also be seen - and be more readily seen - as a form of hyper nationalism.
