[flagged] I know stuff almost no one else does (dickymirrors.substack.com)

$350 is pretty reasonable for a specialist on something like GPU optimization… For an application like machine learning, just 5–10 hours could save you a gigantic amount of money.

With that said, I would never hire this person in 1000 years, because of their attitude. There is no shortage of smart consultants out there, even for niches like bare metal GPU coding.

Well, that's interesting... I assume there are many people with quite unique and valuable skills here on HN. It's table stakes, really.

I assume you're the same type of person as me, one who is a "mapper", and will NOT EVER let technology fail to bend to your will. Persistence hunting in the technology space is something rare, but very useful, when applied correctly.

I assume this is supposed to be one of those cases where "if you don't know why you need me, you don't need me". But what exactly do you hope to gain by self-advertising on HN like this?

I think the point os to turn as many people off as possible so he gets less HN traffic. Maybe he hates HN?

No, the point of the article is to scare off anybody who isn't worth their time. They know what they're worth. But why post it here?

attention

You sound fun, and very badass

I love it! True words. ...might contact you, but won't pay :) Interested in collab work?

Given they're charging hundreds of dollars an hour just to talk, I doubt your offer will interest them in the slightest.

They do offer knowledge at its best. ... In my field I do so too. So, why not. Sure if they just want fast money, I am out. But if someone is interested in "banging heads against walls" ....together or side by side - sounds like fun to me.

flagged for WHAT?

Pretty sure HN is not so fond of self-promotion, especially with this kind of attitude. If you want to get yourself out there, pay for proper ads, or market yourself on social media.

Or go by word of mouth, which I assume is your eventual goal... https://xkcd.com/125
