Probably because it sounds terrible. It's more a physics toy than a musical instrument based on the article.

The article heavily implies it’s built deliberately for the purpose of music production and even goes so far as to discuss its ability to be recorded. I doubt it sounds good but the whole point is to produce music with it, and the whole point of music is to be listened to.
