Police departments reconsidering how they respond would mean fewer chances to play as action movie stars with all that army surplus gear.



Almost 20 years ago I got to talking to a sheriff in Texas who lamented that no one ever showed up to the boring important domestic disturbance calls. But when there was a call where there was even a slight chance a Taser could be deployed the squad cars were lined up in droves.


This is so obviously the actual issue here, that I'm surprised this is coming up so late on this thread.

You have to be an American whose nose is rubbed down in violence to not see it.
