It's the program itself that, without my intervention, will go haywire, regardless of whether I've followed a guide or started from scratch. I seem to be the only one with this particular problem, so I never knew how to fix it.

I'd recommend to setup a fresh Windows 10 VM, install all the available upgrades, create a snapshot and then follow the linked guide.

The Optical Drive can be passed through to the VM.

If you still get errors, it's probably a hardware issue.
