In all seriousness, why would any country try to make any "secret" deal with Elon (SpaceX likely being a single exception since SpaceX surviving aligns with his personal goals) knowing that he will likely just blab about it.

Making matters worse, couldn't he just make shit up at this point and it sounds reasonable enough that a government may try something like this?

I had roughly the same thought. Either the commissioner in question was an absolute idiot who didn't know anything about Musk (which is certainly a possibility), or Musk is bullshitting.

Yeah, the grain of salt one should take this statement with is large.

It's funny that one of their main arguments is that "verified" users used to mean trustworthy information. Like no one remembers Twitter before Musk where you'd get verified by having a blog with the right politics, wrote an article for an outlet the staff liked, was friends with staff, or just straight up paid one to give you the badge..

The term, “unreliable narrator,” comes to mind.

If only he had a platform where he could provide the information about such deal.

It's hard to imagine they gave him a one sentence deal.

"Secret" deal they offered to everyone. Remove hate speech or be target of a regulation that was voted on and passed. Elon thinks this is illegal? Commission is the literally the executive arm of EU.
