After years of solo ventures, failed startups, contract gigs, and countless OSS contributions, I've decided to shake up my job search. Instead of the usual LinkedIn grin, CV spam & endless forms, I'm leveraging my GitHub cred to flip the script on hiring.
I've created a "Hire Me" GitHub issue template where companies can "apply" to employ me. It's like a reverse job application, and here's why it's cool:
1. Cuts through the noise: Most dev's GH profile speaks louder than resume.
2. Saves time: No more filling out repetitive forms or tailoring CVs.
3. Transparency: All offers are public by default
Here's how it looks in action: https://github.com/smashah/smashah/issues/new?assignees=smas...
Or just click the "Hire Now" button on my profile (wip): https://github.com/smashah?tab=overview&from=2022-12-01&to=2...
Feel free to use this idea for your own job hunt! If you do, let me know so we can track the "Reverse Job Search" revolution. I might add a default label "reverse-hiring-application" so all such posts can be easily searched. I also made an animated svg button (feel free to reuse).
