I future proofed myself (I believe, and it's worked well so far despite many technology transitions) by always adapting to newer tools and technologies, not involving myself in operating system/text editor/toolchain wars but instead become at least proficient in the ones that matter and by ensuring my non technical skills are as strong or stronger than my technical skills.

This is a path I would recommend with or without LLM's in the picture.
