Apparently the newest Parallels now lets you run x86 VMs on M-series computers. (Previously, you could only run Windows Arm, and Microsoft's own virtualization/emulation inside Windows was what let you run some x86 software).

I think the built in Mac hypervisor lets you do this as well doesn't it?

I don't think that's right. UTM falls back to QEMU for x86 emulation.
