I'm not an economist but I'd imagine this will strengthen alliances that don't include the US and will weaken and isolate the US. I don't understand this strategy of theirs. Not only short term damage but the US is demonstrably not a reliable trading partner anymore.

If a system has self-correcting mechanisms it can, hopefully, demonstrate that it can withstand stresses that may arise within or without, and hence show resilience that can be relied upon. One can but hope.


If I read that correctly your hope is that the self-correcting mechanism is reliant on right-wing business leaders self-interest?

Is there not one in particular that holds most of the cards? Trump seems set on serving his own interests regardless is my take.
