Not quite. The child still has the disease and will need lifelong treatment for not only the disease itself, but also the gene editing procedure.

This procedure costing upwards of $800,000 simply trades one disease process for another.

It would be interesting to find out if this child does indeed end up getting the liver transplant that was sidelined for this new one off procedure.
