I’m not super familiar with this community in particular, but is it possible that it’s small/homogenous enough that participants feel comfortable “unmasking” aroudn one another? If so, then those seemingly-confident assertions may be seen by the in-group as implicitly tentative.
The Python community used to be like that. I’d say it peaked around 2014, at which point it became politically fractured.
