I used f.lux for a few months last year, I did not stick with it because:

• It overrode the brightness settings on my screen, so it was actually much brighter than I would normally have it.

• Whenever I needed to work on anything with colours (most design tasks) I would have to turn it off to get hues correct.

The first one may have been sorted out by this point though.



F.lux is unusable on my work external LCD (junk panel), since I have the brightness/contrast/gamma turned way down in the display driver panel. I don't see any option to tweak this in f.lux unfortunately. I'll have to try it on my home LCDs, though.
