it is a fundamental principle of socialism - clear separation between 2 classes of property - one for personal use only and one for business, and people are prohibited from using their personal property for business. Somewhere during the 20th century this principle (being one of a tools to control people) invaded, like weed, capitalist economy as well. "Sharing" economy strikes directly back at it.

There is no surprise in the direct correlation between people's willingness to put up (or not) with oppression, be it economical or political, and the economical prosperity (or lack of it). After all, Soviet Union went down together with oil prices, and Arab Spring happened once price of bread went up.
