Google's Windows software has issues due to it's 32bit/memory limiting nature which makes it almost unusable for me for backing up client files. Can anyone with OneDrive exp chime in?

Have you tried Insync which is a cross platform gdrive alternative. I believe its using python, so it might not suffer from 32bit issues.
