I was also really excited about The Wheel of Time series that came out on Prime (especially since Sanderson was consulting on it), but it really disapointed for the same reasons. The Expanse was spot on though. I hope someone picks the show back up so they can finish out the series.
The early episodes of the Expanse were easily the best Sci-Fi TV I can remember watching. Was still good towards the end but definitely didn't keep me as glued to the screen as the first series.
Yeah. I read that they went over budget and had to rewrite the last couple episodes to finish our season 6. It was good but felt more rushed and incomplete.
I'm on book 4 of the Bobiverse series and am really enjoying it, easy reads started the series last week! Read Blake Crouch's latest Upgrade over a weekend and would reccomend as well.
Residential real estate represents 5% of the GDP (in the US), 25% of an individuals wealth, and 65% of the homes are owner occupied. A 20% tax even if only for property deemed underdeveloped would bankrupt a ton of people (myself included) and throw the entire market into chaos. Most people who were hit with this wouldn't be able to redevelop because of the expense, so they would be forced to sell. The market would get flooded and drive down the value. Investors would snatch everything up, redevelop, and start driving up rental prices. We need change but this would be horrible in so many ways.
I think the point is that actual diagonoses are often wrong and potentially harmful, which I agree with. I share a bit of your story, getting diagonised with ADHD benefited me greatly and led me down a path that likely saved my life. At the same time, while many people are helped by the medical system many others aren't and psych drugs are an area where there is a lot of finger waving in how drugs are perscribed.
It just comes down to who the board allows to sell stock and at what time. Most option contracts don’t allow sale of stock to secondary markets without approval and rank and file employees have much more restricted stock. Often founders and key executives will also get some liquidity and stock top up during funding rounds while no one else at the company has that option. By the time a company goes public most founders and key execs have already made quite a bit of money on the side.
