Virool is a fast growing video promotion network. Virool is rapidly growing its publisher network that contains almost 15,000 sites, apps and games promoting Virool videos.

We are looking for exceptional person to oversee and lead this growth

Publisher growth person will be in charge of:

-Developing new relations with publishers

-Publisher happiness: working with existing accounts- support, integration, help, billing

-Collaborating w tech and marketing teams

Skills and requirements:

-(Required) Strong communication and negotiation skills

-(At least!) basic tech skills - html, databases (sql) scripting languages like ruby or python, os shells

-(Desired) At least 2 years experience in ads / publisher relations.

as someone who dealt with L1/L2 visas for myself and my wife and someone who knows OP, his wife and his story in person, i can assure you that this story is absolutely TRUE. period.

getting visa in US embassies abroad after having it approved in US is a complete MESS. This is well known fact for almost anyone who dealt with it. There are tens of scary stories that international founders (including YC founders) could share about that.

Also stating that someone is lying without clarifying details does not make one look smarter (although might bring some quick carma here)

So when you talk to journalists you never know what part of whole conversation they will highlight:) I am not a fan of this example too, i dont think it represents well what are we doing as a company, but a lot of them catch this since it corresponds with our catchy name.

the idea of our service is simply to get relevant videos in front the right audiences. as someone below correctly commented its essentially AdSense for Videos. since we dont have fixed ad units but rather offer API to developers its up to them how obtrusive/native they want to place it. so far we have seen both very abusive and very nice implementations when video was nicely integrated in some games natively.

Its truly amazing to see how far few hundred bucks can get you this days, but can we please stop calling these stratosphere launches 'sending to space'? Is it just me or 'sending balloon to space' sounds like joke?

Seems launching another one(or even few) could be cheaper than searching for this one...

Well there is the convention that space starts at 100km up [1] but the atmosphere extends much higher just getting thinner and thinner. For a lot of people space starts when the sky is black during the 'day time' and you can see the curvature of the Earth, but of course that occurs much sooner, like 31km (~100,000') Balloons can reach 100,000' (Baumgartner jumped from 125,000' for example)

Exactly. Pre-rolls and banners suck (since they are coming from traditional newspapers/web page/TV era), so we are building video ad network for developers so they can plug to our APIs and grab our videos to place them in their APPs(streams etc), facebook apps, mobile etc the way they want it.

actually they manage to build their own community around it. there was even 'war' 9gag vs 4chan sometime ago and surprisingly their members were able to defend against 4chan spam and even counter attack.
